Homemade Cream of "whatever" Soup

I was looking for recipes for some of those "prepackaged" convenience things I use all the time (you may too) and stumbled upon a really neat website called Hillbilly Housewife.

I am getting my pantry in order with my Tupperware Containers and trying to not buy so many "prepackaged" goods.  Here is one that could be great as a soup itself or as an ingredient in a casserole or such.  Hillbilly Housewife calls it the
Cream of Anything Soup Mix

  • 4 c. powdered milk
  • 1 1/2 c. cornstarch
  • 1/2 c. instant chicken bouillon granules *
  • 4 tsp. dried onion flakes
  • 2 tsp. dried thyme
  • 2 tsp basil – crushed dried
  • 1 tsp. pepper
 * For a vegetarian version of this soup, use vegetable broth bullion instead.

Measure all ingredients and pour them into a container with an airtight seal, like a Tupperware Modular Mate container, but a larger freezer bag will work as well.   Be sure to label your container.

To Use The Mix:
Combine 1/3 cup of the mix with 1 cup of water and heat it over medium low heat in a small saucepan until it starts to thicken. This is the equivalent of one can of soup.

I can see some cubed chicken, or steamed veggies added to this to make some great soup for a chilly afternoon or even a late night quick supper.  I am going to try this recipe using leftover chicken (from my Stack Cooker Monday night dinner) in the Tupperware Vented Soup Cup.

Remember you can always get the great Tupperware products noted here at my Tupperware page or you can send me an email and I will get you set up so you can be creating wonderful meals in a matter of days.
