Life's Little Lessons

It's been a while since we had one of these posts.  I'm sorry about that - I really do think these add something to "think about" that isn't stressful or overwhelming.  And in some cases - funny!

Anyway, I will pick up where I left off

97)    Always have something beautiful in sight, even if it's just a daisy in a jelly jar.
How can you feel blue when you look at something that is beautiful?  Just seeing beauty lifts your spirits, whether it is for 5 minutes or 5 hours - and with a lifted spirit you can accomplish EVERYTHING you set your mind to.

98)    KNOW HOW TO TYPE
I truly believe this is one of the things that is lacking in schools today.  Need to know how to type to get through most of the college classes - professors do NOT want to struggle to read your writing (penmanship is absolutely HORRIBLE - IMHO)  If you send in your papers "typed" it makes it so much easier for the professor - and increases your chance of them actually reading it all the way through.

99)    Think BIG thoughts, but relish small pleasures.
I love this one - the bigger your thoughts the more you feel you can do.  The more you think you can accomplish the more you WILL accomplish.  At times I think we are our own worst enemy.  Think of how much you have doubted and then stopped doing.....perhaps if you thought you could do it, you would haveBut don't forget every big accomplishment started with a small step - celebrate those small steps.
100)  Read the Bill of Rights
This should be a no brainer - if someone tells you it is part of YOUR RIGHTS - how do you know if you haven't read those RIGHTS and understood what you were reading?

101)  Learn how to read a financial report
How can you invest in anything - including your pension since most of us who have a pension/401K/SEP have to actually PICK a fund or stock to put it in.  If you can't tell how the company or fund is doing - how can you make an educated selection from a list?

102)  Tell your kids often, how terrific they are and that you trust them.
Celebrating the accomplishments of kids and letting them know that you think it and they are pretty terrific helps to build their confidence.  As their confidence builds, they aren't afraid to take the next step.  Knowing that you trust them to make a good decision or come to you if they need help - adds to that confidence.

I always have flowers that chris has brought in sitting around, when it's the right season. Right now it's 2 of the last of the black-eyed Susan's, but they make me happy.

I wish they would teach kids how to write in cursive. They didn't even teach Jack cursive & he can hardly sign his name correctly!

Hugs & love,
Mimi

This is such a great list!! Oh I just love the small little pleasures and beauty in life! You're right, we need to relish it... and Big Thoughts are a must. And I believe that learning to write well is a fundamental :)
