Treasures - have you found them?

This is another one of those that I need to print off and tack up on the wall of my office cube so that we can all remember what is truly important while we are running around trying to tackle all the "problems of the world" that lately all boil down to what tax you owe and what money you get to keep and how much you can "hide" from the tax man without going to jail .... (Ok it was suppose to be a tax joke ...)  Sorry.

But this is still important.

Be my Tupperware Mystery Hostess!

UPDATED 4/27/13
Since I didn't get to give this away --- I'm going to keep it going.  Each month I will give away a hostess only gift to any one of my readers who was also a purchaser from my online site, when we have enough total purchases to qualify as a "hostess".  This will usually mean when my total monthly sales equal $550 ... everyone who ordered gets put into a bowl (or rafflecopter form) and we will select one lucky person for a special gift!   I really want to make someone's day SUPER special!
Will it be you this month?

Do you know what this is?
If you are a Tupperware Fan, you probably already know that it is the Hostess Gift Special for February (and March, but shhhh March doesn't start until March 9th).

The Prep Celebration Mega Set
worth $182!

Would you like to have this set?
If you had your own party and had sales of $550 and had 2 of your friends book parties you could use $83 in Hostess Credits and receive this exact set.

Believe me it is soooo worth it just to get this set.  So if you have the desire to have your own party (and I will do book parties to help out) all you need to do is contact me and I will get you set up.

Don't want to have your own party?  Don't have the time to get it all together (really it isn't difficult, but I do understand) or don't want to have a big "clean up" to have friends and family together in your house (that's why I love book parties), I have the perfect solution for you.

I'm going to have a
Mystery Hostess Party!

Here's how it will work.

I will have a Mystery Hostess Party Online that will run for approximately 4 weeks.
The first part of the online party will be covering the items that are in the Mid February Brochure (as well as any Tupperware items in the Spring Catalog).  This one is going on right now, and can be found here at  KAT's Late Feb/Early March Online Party.   (this party is closed but a new one has opened) Once that party closes, I will open another online party that will cover the Mid March Brochure items as well as any items in the Spring Catalog. Kat's Mid March Mystery Hostess Party is open now and runs till March 23rd!

Provided we have at least $550 in product sales once I combine both parties, I will place the names of each person who orders in either or both parties into the drawing to be the Mystery Hostess!  I will use the listings from the parties to enter each name into a Mystery Hostess rafflecopter form to select the winner.  Each time you order, you get another entry - so if you get things from Mid February and then Mid March, you will be entered twice - Just to make this clear.

Sounds pretty sweet right?

Don't forget you can order from the Mid February Brochure through March 8th.  You can order from the Mid March Brochure starting March 9th (but I'd make sure I was ordering on Kat's Mid March online party) to be included in this great offer.  I will post the link to the Mid March Party here once I open it on or about March 10th.

You can mix and match Mid February Brochure items (ends March 8th) and the Spring Catalog.
You can mix and match the Mid March Brochure items (starts March 9th) and the Spring Catalog.  You can just order from the Spring Catalog.

It's up to you.
But once I have the required product sales ... EVERYONE that ordered from either party gets a shot at being the MYSTERY HOSTESS and winning The Celebration Prep Mega Set!

Spread the word to your friends and family.
Lets make sure that we have at least $550 total in product sales so that someone, maybe YOU, will be my Tupperware February/March Mystery Hostess.

Leave me a comment and let me know what you think and what items you would like to have.  You never know when that could be the Mystery Hostess Gift ....

Check out the Krazy 8s Set ... share this with a girlfriend and you both win!
A complete set of 4 of each type (bowls, tumblers and microwave bowls) in great colors for each of you.  Share the cost/split the package -- a definite win-win situation.

The 87 Year Old College Student

I LOVED this story.
It really needed to be passed along so that everyone will know what this wonderful lady taught thousands of college students (and me) just by being ROSE.

An 87 Year Old College Student Named Rose

The first day of school our professor introduced himself and challenged us to get to know someone we didn’t already know.

I stood up to look around when a gentle hand touched my shoulder. I turned round to find a wrinkled, little old lady beaming up at me with a smile that lit up her entire being.

She said, “Hi handsome. My name is Rose. I’m eighty-seven years old. Can I give you a hug?”

I laughed and enthusiastically responded, “Of course you may!” and she gave me a giant squeeze.

“Why are you in college at such a young, innocent age?” I asked.

She jokingly replied, “I’m here to meet a rich husband, get married, and have a couple of kids…”

“No seriously,” I asked. I was curious what may have motivated her to be taking on this challenge at her age.

“I always dreamed of having a college education and now I’m getting one!” she told me.

After class we walked to the student union building and shared a chocolate milkshake. We became instant friends. Every day for the next three months, we would leave class together and talk nonstop. I was always mesmerized listening to this “time machine” as she shared her wisdom and experience with me.

Over the course of the year, Rose became a campus icon and she easily made friends wherever she went. She loved to dress up and she reveled in the attention bestowed upon her from the other students.

She was living it up.

At the end of the semester we invited Rose to speak at our football banquet. I’ll never forget what she taught us. She was introduced and stepped up to the podium.

As she began to deliver her prepared speech, she dropped her three by five cards on the floor. Frustrated and a little embarrassed she leaned into the microphone and simply said, “I’m sorry I’m so jittery. I gave up beer for Lent and this whiskey is killing me! I’ll never get my speech back in order so let me just tell you what I know.”

As we laughed she cleared her throat and began, “We do not stop playing because we are old; we grow old because we stop playing. There are only four secrets to staying young, being happy, and achieving success. You have to laugh and find humor every day.

You’ve got to have a dream. When you lose your dreams, you die.

We have so many people walking around who are dead and don’t even know it!There is a huge difference between growing older and growing up.

If you are nineteen years old and lie in bed for one full year and don’t do one productive thing, you will turn twenty years old.

If I am eighty-seven years old and stay in bed for a year and never do anything I will turn eighty-eight.

Anybody can grow older. That doesn’t take any talent or ability.

The idea is to grow up by always finding opportunity in change.
Have no regrets.

The elderly usually don’t have regrets for what we did, but rather for things we did not do.

The only people who fear death are those with regrets.”

She concluded her speech by courageously singing “The Rose.”

She challenged each of us to study the lyrics and live them out in our daily lives.

At the year’s end Rose finished the college degree she had begun all those years ago.

One week after graduation Rose died peacefully in her sleep.

Over two thousand college students attended her funeral in tribute to the wonderful woman who taught by example that it’s never too late to be all you can possibly be .

When you finish reading this, please send this peaceful word of advice to your friends and family, they’ll really enjoy it!  These words have been passed along in loving memory of ROSE.

REMEMBER, GROWING OLDER IS MANDATORY.

GROWING UP IS OPTIONAL.
We make a Living by what we get,
We make a Life by what we give.

The Right People

Sometimes we forget and need to be reminded that every day doesn't need to be filled with "excitement" but does need to be filled with the "right" people.

Don't you agree?

Maxine and the Hearing Aid

HMMM I wonder if this is part of the reason my dad doesn't want to get a hearing aid?
I KNOW its why my brother is continuously "losing" his.

You don't need to Chase People

I saw this and at first thought "oh this is going to be rather interesting".  But I wasn't thinking in a "good" way, if you know what I mean.

Then I read it all.

So what do you think?

I like being me, doing my own thing and working hard at it.  I do like the people in my life, but didn't think about how some of them got here.  Now I know.

They like me for me!  I think that is just pretty neat.

Family Chicken Dinner

How about a Family Chicken Dinner that you can make during the week without breaking a sweat?
Sound good?

Look good?

Ingredients
4 lb./1.8 kg whole chicken, cut in 8 pieces
1 1/2 tbsp. Simple Indulgence Cilantro Mojo Seasoning Blend
2 tsp. paprika
Season chicken on all sides with seasoning blend and paprika.
Place legs in TupperWave® Stack Cooker 3-Qt./3 L Casserole at 3- and 9-o'clock positions with tapered ends pointing to center.
Place wings at 12- and 6-o'clock positions, with wingtips facing middle.
Place breasts on top at center, facing 12- and 6-o'clock, covering most of legs and wings.
Tuck thighs in at 9- and 3-o'clock, covering ends of legs.
Cover and microwave on high 18 minutes, or until internal temperature near the bone in the thigh and breasts reaches 165°F/75°C or until juices run clear.
Allow to rest, covered, 5 minutes.

See if you had purchased this StackCooker from me previously .... you could have had this for dinner tonight without going crazy.   Think about it - I know I am a "reformed" microwave cooker.
And I have to say it really does taste good (I had always been a no microwave cook person but I've been "reformed" because of Tupperware's StackCooker).  If you are interested, check out my Tupperware Site for this and more products to make your life easier.

Tupperware Meets Hungry Girl

The other day I was "browsing" through the cookbook section of  the my BJ Wholesale Store and I stumbled upon a small section of Hungry Girl Cookbooks.   It was there that I saw the newest one with 650 recipes in 1 book - Hungry Girl To The Max!

I have liked many of the HG recipes I've seen online, so of course I picked it up.  Most of her recipes are relatively quick to make (tax season means not a whole lot of time to cook), so already I was thinking this was a winner.

The very first section was Egg Mugs, for all kinds of "culinary" tastes.  The first thing that is mentioned is to have a BIG mug, the bigger the better.  Then it says the best bet is tall, wide mug with a 16 ounce capacity.

I started thinking (as I was standing in line reading) that our Tupperware Breakfast Maker would be perfect for so many of these Egg Mugs.  I think that although its not "tall" it is a nice wide with an interesting shape to make your "egg mug" shine AND you can't break this one like you could with one of those big mugs that are sometime rather heavy .......

I have just started really going through the book, but there is a pasta section that would probably be wonderful with Tupperware's Pasta Maker - no "boil overs" that, as you know, is really easy to do on the stove.  They have a Chinese section - that could be great with the rice maker or even the StackCooker that would give even more options.  Oh yeah I am going to be lovin' this book.

If this is something that you would like to pick up, or anything else Tupperware, you know you can always check out my Tupperware Site or jump in on my online party (link is in upper right corner) that is always open.  If you need some help, want to open your own party (online/book/both) you can always email me and I will call you to get everything set up quickly and get you the supplies you need.

Just Walk Away

And as you are walking away .... HOLD YOUR HEAD UP HIGH.

You ARE better than those haters - no matter who they are!

Maxine and the Ass

I so love Maxine.
She just has a way of saying things that are spot on.
And of course she can get away with whatever she wants to say.

Now if we said some of the things she says, and lets be truthful we agree with, we would be reemed out left and right.  So Maxine is my hero!

What do you think?  Does this one just "nail" it?

Maxine Today

HAH. Let us not "mince" words.

Maxine you are just perfect for me!

Great way to start the week right?

Just 2 days

This is perfect.

We all need to remember it all boils down to 3 days and 2 of them we can't do anything about.

What do you think?

The return of our winter wonderland

Yes we did get a little snow yesterday/last night.  Now we didn't get as much as Boston got, thank God!, but we did have about 9 inches or so that needed to be dealt with.

Yes that is about 7.5 inches of snow on my deck railing ---- and you know how it is "difficult" to keep anything on a railing that is maybe 2 - 3 inches wide ..........

This is looking out my front door down the driveway that my very nice snow plow person had taken care of for us .... we just had the steps and cars (ok Jenn's car and the truck) areas to be taken care of.  Oh and of course my mother in laws but I couldn't deal with taking pictures there.

And then we have out the front door, in the other direction to those "little" evergreen trees on the corner of our property.  One of those "little" trees was the blue spruce that we planted when Dan was just 3 years old ... and he "towered" over it.  Now it definitely towers over my 6'2" (or so) son.

Now if this could be the last of the white stuff that we get for the season I would be a happy camper.  It can be cold, but leave out the white stuff please...........

Your New Chapter

I always wanted to be an author ...... but didn't think I could really "write" anything that people would be interested in reading.  Ok yes I started a blog and people do read it (thank you) but that wasn't what I meant.

Then I saw this and decided I really could be an author ......... just not in the same way as I originally thought.

How about you?  Are you going to be your OWN author?  Do you have a new chapter to write?

Butterfly Kisses

I saw this and had to watch it.  And of course being the sap that I am I cried the whole time ....

I know that I will never be able to listen to this song again without thinking of the wonderful thing that her brother, family and new family did for her on her special day.

What do you think?  Was this not perfect?

Impact on their lives

We all try to be and achieve the best that we can, whether that is in making money, dressing ourselves and our family, or the vacations/holidays/trips we take.

I do believe this is true.
I believe that this should be remembered whether we are dealing with family or friends or even those we don't know but "touch" in our every day lives.

My get up and go ....

Some days I just can't help but feel this way....

How about you?  Do you feel this way some days?

The best thing is .... THIS looks EXACTLY like my Shadow!  See it was calling to me even before I saw it.

Having a bad day?

Sometimes when you are having a really really bad day, you just need someone to give you a hug and share with you and then it makes everything "feel" better

Just look at that face .....

Doesn't that just make you feel better?

Grandmom is HOW old?

I got this in the office the other day.  Do you think they were trying to tell me something?

We've seen a lot in our day!..................Yes we have!!
How old is Grandma?
(Read this to the end-- quite an eye opener.)

Stay with this -- the answer is at the end... It will blow you away.

One evening a grandson was talking to his grandmother
About current events.

The grandson asked his grandmother what she thought
About the shootings at schools, the computer age, and
Just things in general.

The Grandmother replied, "Well, let me think a minute,

I was born before:

'
television
'
penicillin
'
polio shots
'
frozen foods
'
Xerox
'
contact lenses
'
Frisbees and
'
the pill

There were no:

'
credit cards
'
laser beams or
'
ball-point pens

Man had not
yet invented:

'
pantyhose
'
air conditioners
'
dishwashers
'
clothes dryers
'
and the clothes were hung out to dry in the fresh air and
'
man hadn't yet walked on the moon

Your Grandfather and I got married first, and then lived together. Every family had a father and a mother.

Until I was 25, I called every man
older than me, "Sir."

And after I turned 25, I still called
policemen and every man
With
a title, "Sir."

We were before gay-rights,
computer-dating, dual careers, daycare centers, and group therapy.

Our lives were governed by the Ten
Commandments, good judgment, and common sense.

We were taught to know the
difference between right and
Wrong
and to stand up and take responsibility for our actions.

Serving your country was a privilege; living
in this country was
A bigger privilege.

We thought fast food was what people
ate during Lent.

Having a meaningful relationship
meant getting along with
Your cousins.

Draft dodgers were those who closed front
doors as the
Evening breeze started.

Time-sharing meant time the family
spent together in the
Evenings
and weekends — not purchasing condominiums.

We never heard of FM radios, tape decks, CD's, electric typewriters, yogurt, or guys wearing earrings.

We listened to Big Bands, Jack Benny,
and the President's speeches on our radios.

If you saw anything with 'Made in Japan '
on it, it was junk.

The term 'making out' referred to how
you did on your school exam.

Pizza Hut, McDonald's,
and instant coffee were unheard of.
We had 5 &10-cent (5 and dime) stores where you could actually buy things for 5 and 10 cents.

Ice-cream cones, phone calls, rides on a streetcar,
and a Pepsi were all a nickel.

And if you didn't want to splurge, you could
spend your nickel on enough stamps to mail 1 letter and 2 postcards.

You could buy a new Ford Coupe for $600,
but who could
Afford one? Too bad, because gas was 11 cents a gallon.

In my day:

'
"grass" was mowed,
'
"coke" was a cold drink,
'
"pot" was something your mother cooked in and
'
"rock music" was your grandmother's lullaby.
'
"Aids" were helpers in the Principal's office,
'
"chip" meant a piece of wood,
'
"hardware" was found in a hardware store and.
'
"software" wasn't even a word.

We were the last generation to actually believe that a lady needed a husband to have a baby.
We volunteered to protect our precious country.
No wonder people call us "old and confused" and say there is a generation gap.
How old do you think I am?

Read on to see -- pretty scary if you think about it and pretty sad at the same time.

Are you ready?????

This woman would be only 59 years old.She would have been born in late 1952.

GIVES YOU SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT.
I'M PASSING THIS ON TO THE OTHER “OLD ONES.”

<BECAUSE THE YOUNG ONES WOULDN'T BELIEVE IT.>

So are you one of the "old ones" or one of the "young ones"?
Do you believe it?

Their Part is Over

This is just so right.

Super Bowl 2013 commercials

I'm not sure, but I think overall this was the WORST year for Super Bowl commercials ever.

Although there were some really good and/or funny commercials, over all I think there needs to be some new advertising "professionals" (and yes I do use that term VERY lightly) that make a stand because if this is the best that they can come up with .... they are VERY VERY OVER paid!

Now I know that this is my opinion, but tell me what do you think?  Did you like the Super Bowl commercials this year, or do you agree that most of them need a do-over DESPERATELY?

I think the GoDaddy commercials need to be banned from next year unless they get 1) all new ad people and 2) it is pre-approved.  I just don't think they have EVER been that good and now they are definitely scraping the bottom ...... I think they are so bad on purpose - I guess they figure bad advertising will get them talked about more than good advertising .....

If you missed them, or want to see some of them "over" again, you can check them out here at

2013 Big Game Commercials

Now I don't know how long they will end up being available, so I would suggest that you either check them out soon or "add" them to your collection.

I think my favorite one (and it has been rated #1 so far) was the Budweiser The Clydesdales: "Brotherhood"

So tell me,
Which was your favorite this year?
Which one did you "dislike" the most?

Strong Enough?

Are you Strong Enough?

What do YOU think?

Here's what I think.
No matter how difficult things seem to be .....

Maxine, Sports and the Super Bowl

Ok on a much more "serious" note ....
