No regrets please

This is a very powerful message because EVERYONE makes mistakes, some more than others, but mistakes are made by everyone. If you know of someone that NEVER makes mistakes .. I want you to introduce them to me - I've never met someone like that.

Anyway, this is your message to learn from your mistakes and move forward not to wallow in those mistakes.

Ok so we admit that we made a mistake, learn from that mistake and move on.
Got it?
Me too!

Getting your College Kids Ready for (Back to) School?

I know when my kids were getting ready for College they were excited about going away. They were ready (or so they thought) for the independence that "going away" would bring them.  I think most kids feel that way.  Yes they love their family but they really want to go away and be on their own.

That is until it is about to happen, and then they are wondering (and mom I know you are too) whether they really are prepared.  Do they have what they need for living away from home for more than a week or two.
Here is a good "starting point" list of things that you need to live "comfortably" away from home.

Room Needs/Storage
  • Bedside lamp
  • Alarm clock/clock radio
  • Mini trash can
  • Storage bins
  • Under-the-bed storage trays/bins (remember rooms are small)
  • Desk lamp (remember extra bulbs)
  • Fan
  • Bulletin board and pushpins
  • Dry-erase wall calendar/board (for class schedule & due dates)
  • Mini toolkit (or email for dorm maintenance)
  • Picture hangers (double-sided tape for concrete walls)
  • Bed lifters (unless beds are permanently set high)

  • Mattress pad (see note above)
  • Pillows (2 or whatever you use at home)
  • Blankets (2, one light weight)
  • Comforter/bedspread (see note above)
  • Towels (2-3 each - bath, hand and face)
  • Clothes hangers
  • Laundry bag/basket
  • Drying rack for laundry
  • Laundry detergent, fabric softener and stain remover
  • Lint brush (Sticky rollers work great)
  • Mini sewing kit
Office/Desk Supplies
  • Electronic storage media (memory cards/USB flash drives/ portable hard drives)
  • Stapler and staples
  • Printer paper (if you decide to bring a printer)
  • Pens and pencils, holder and sharpener

  • 3 × 5 index cards (my kids favorites for studying)
  • Sticky notes
  • Notebooks
  • Folder with pockets
  • Labels of various sizes
  • Paper clips and binder clips
  • Rubber bands
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Stackable desk trays (at least 4)
  • Stamps and envelopes (yes they still need these)
Electronics
  • Laptop
  • Printer (optional) or extra money for computer labs where you can print your reports/notes/etc.
  • HDMI cord, Ethernet cord (check if your room has wireless)
  • Surge protector
  • Extension cords
  • Headphones
  • Cell phone (don't forget charger!)
Shared Items — Check with roommates
  • TV and DVD player (may be in dorm lounge)
  • Coffeemaker (Jenn couldn't live without her Keurig)
  • Microwave
  • Small refrigerator (if one isn’t provided)

My sign

I saw this one while I was flipping through some of a friends Facebook posts .... and just thought I needed to post it here.

I mean the whole purpose of this blog is to share and inspire others.
Sometimes it is with words, or a picture, or products because you just never know what will "tickle" someones creativeness.

Sometimes I think the "creators" of products should have this in front of them all the time so that the products they come up with are done so to inspire not just for the awe or wow factor that too many look for.

I think I'm going to be putting this picture in my office.

Ice Cream Time toppings

It's ice cream time ...

You can make your own ice cream with our Quick Chef Pro, that is really nice and quick and uses fresh ingredients without preservatives.

Here are a few toppings for your ice cream that you can make pretty quickly.

Home-made Caramel Sauce
Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 ts coarse kosher salt (optional)

Instruction:
Place butter in 1 QT Micro Pitcher.
Microwave on high for 30 seconds or until melted
Add brown sugar and heavy cream and whisk until combined
Microwave on high for 1 minute 30 seconds stirring halfway through.  Mixture will be bubbly so watch closely.
Add vanilla and salt (if using)
Serve warm

Home-made Magic Shell

Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 4 Tbsp Coconut Oil
  • 3 Tbsp Cocoa Powder
  • 1/4 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions:
Combine all ingredients in 1 Qt Micro Pitcher
Microwave on high for 30 seconds, whisking to combine.
Pour over ice cream and shell will "magically" harden quickly.

As always, all these great Tupperware pieces, and so much more, can be found on my Tupperware Site.  Browse what we have to offer, Shop in your PJs or while you are watching your kids in the yard.  It is part of the beauty of shopping with me and Tupperware!

My copy cat Cafe Bellagio Sunsplash

This is my copy cat version of the Cafe Bellagio, in Las Vegas, Sunsplash.  My husband and I had these when we first went to Las Vegas and loved them.  Now we can have them any time we want.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 ounce Orange Vodka
  • 1/2 ounce Cointreau
  • 1 1/2 ounce Orange Juice
  • 1 1/2 ounce Cranberry Juice
  • 1 ounce Sweet & Sour Mix
  • Orange slice (optional)

Instruction:

Put all the ingredients into a shaker (I used the Tupperware Quick Shake) with ice and "shake shake shake".
Pour into a glass.
Garnish with Orange slice, if using.
Enjoy.

When making in The Tupperware Quick Shake I got a really nice "foam" on the top of the glass when pouring.  And because we were outside and near the pool I used the Tupper Minis to measure the ingredients. The minis were perfect and since they come in sets of 6 we could have 1 mini for each ingredient.

I love being able to use my Quick Shake for all the "normal" things the Quick Shake was designed for, but this was a wonderful benefit. If you are looking for the perfect shaker, check out my Tupperware Site for both the Quick Shake and Tupper Minis.

I love that it has a great screw on top (unlike many cocktail shakers) so that you can be sure to have a tight seal and not have to worry about your cocktail splashing all over when you are shaking.

I'm sure you know shaken not stirred make for some great cocktails!
