Unfortunately I don't believe that many today know who he was and what he stood for. For many its "just another day off".
It is a day to think about what he stood for and why we celebrate his life today.
He was an American Civil Rights activist who advocated for change in a non-violent way.
He was a great man.
Not a great black man
a great MAN.
It has been said that through adversity our true character is born out. I believe that statements like these showed just how deep he was. He was not a fighter in the physical sense, but his mind and his statements show the true warrior that he was.
His teachings were so prophetic.
We need to be reminding what he has left us.
I will leave you with what I believe was one of the most telling of his quotes.
That even after all these many years, we still haven't learned this one very important fact.
Let us strive to learn this lesson and to start putting it into practice so that we can live in peace.
Let's make this year, the year that we make a difference.
