Life's Little Lessons

Week 11 in our journey through "Life's Little Instruction Book"

48) Keep a tight rein on your temper
When your temper gets the best of you - you never know what will happen.

49) Buy vegetables from truck farmers who advertise with hand-lettered signs.
Farm fresh is always better than wondering how long its been since it saw the farm.

50) Put the cap back on the toothpaste
Enough said.

51) Take out the garbage without being told.
Ditto.

Life's Little Lessons

Week 10 in our journey through "Life's Little Instruction Book"

43) NEVER give up on Anybody. Miracles happen EVERY day.
Everyone has a purpose for being in your life. Whether it is a Reason, a Season or a Lifetime. They have something to teach us - so don't give up - they WILL teach you something.

44) Show respect for teachers
Remember they teach our children our history - if they don't learn it we are bound to re-live it .... the good, the bad, and the ugly.

45) Show respect for police officers and firefighters
Remember they are the ones that run TOWARD the danger when everyone else is running AWAY from it. They are a very special breed.

46) Show respect for military personnel
Remember freedom isn't free - these men and women earned it for us!

47) Don't waste time learning the "tricks of the trade". Instead LEARN the TRADE.
If you don't know the trade, you don't know why the "tricks" work - and when they don't work you won't know how to fix it!

Life's Little Lessons

Week 9 in our Journey through "Life's Little Instruction Book"

38) Keep secrets
Be the one that everyone comes to when they need to talk to someone

39) Take lots of snapshots
Pictures help to keep memories alive.

40) Never refuse homemade brownies
What can I say - doesn't everyone love home made brownies?

41) Don't postpone joy
Why wait? Tomorrow is not promised to anyone.

42) Write "thank you" notes promptly.
Make the giver know that you received their gift, don't make them guess. Oh and let them know that you liked it.

Looking for a new floor?

There are lots of things that need to be done around my house, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that is thinking that Spring should be fix up time around the house.

One of the things we want to do is finish redoing the floors in the kitchen and eating area and the bathrooms. I have been introduced to an interesting website ukflooringdirect that has some great ideas as well as some great information for us "do it yourselfers". Do you know the difference between hardwood flooring, engineered wood flooring and laminate flooring? If not (or even if you do) you need to check out ukflooringdirect.

One of the things I was thinking about using was cork - very eco-friendly you know. If you go to Cork_Flooring you can get some insight into what the history of cork flooring is and what the next generation is going to be.

Another option that is definitely eco-friendly is Bamboo, which really looks nice and could be another option for my kitchen. There are so many different colors/variations that are available that won't hurt the environment or end up killing off a "species" of wood.

And have you seen all the different types of Laminate_Flooring there is? They have this great section that shows all kinds of different flooring. So many different types just to add to the options.

Ukflooringdirect also sells Tarkett_Flooring that is an engineered wood flooring that looks so fantastic!

Another option for the areas I'm looking to redo is Luxury_Vinyl_Flooring which was something I didn't think I wanted at all. I thought been there done that wanted something different. Now I'm not sure because it appears that even vinyl flooring is so much better than before.

I will need to do some serious thinking about what I am going to do with these floors. I thought I was ready to decide, but after looking at this website - I think I need to investigate just a little more. I will be looking at this site just a bit longer ....... since there seem to be so many new and different and so much better than I thought, ideas for flooring.

Check out ukflooringdirect to find your Spring project!

Perhaps this will be the class I take after tax season.

35) Plant a tree on your birthday
So that you have made a mark on the land in a good way - each year.

36) Donate two pints of blood every year.
You will never know how many people this could help.
