Do you know what June is?

Other than my anniversary month that is ...

Yes it is also my mom and dad's anniversary (#61 this year), but that still isn't what I am talking about.
Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!

If you have a teenager, or if you have what has in many "worlds" been called the teenage curse, you may know that June is Acne Awareness month.

Now I have had 2 teenagers, one boy and one girl, so I've seen it from both sides, as well as having had my own bouts with the teenage curse in my adult years, but even I did not realize that June was Acne Awareness month.

That is until I joined LimeLight by Alcone and started seeing the blog posts by Madison at LimeLight by Alcone Life.  Granted the post I am sharing is already a year old, but that doesn't minimize the great information that you can find here.

I am in love with LimeLight's skincare products.
It was probably the second reason I joined the LimeLight by Alcone team, first being the awesome foundation, but that's another story.

I love that the skincare products are leaping bunny certified,

and has ingredients that are good for your skin and not full of chemicals.

Interested in seeing more?
Jump on over to my LimeLight by Alcone site and look around.
Have any questions, feel free to give me a shout.

Office in a Case

I was recently contacted by the founder of Excolere Ltd, a UK company, about a new product they were introducing.
www.officeincase.co

When I was looking at the website, I thought this is a fantastic idea.  My first thought was this would be perfect for anyone doing direct sales from home, but had limited space.

There would be no more working at the kitchen table to enter your orders, send out emails, and more.
I can see this for school work as well.
There's just so many ways to make this set an awesome addition to anyone's space.

The really interesting thing is the desk and chair fits in here!

That's right, it fits in this case!  Can you believe it?

Check out the video here.

If you are in thinking this is a great idea and would be something you could use often, if not every day, you will want to check out all the product details at Office in Case.

Oh and something else Sinan shared with me....they have an Giveaway going on for someone to win this awesome product! Doesn't this sound good?
You know it does and you can enter here.

Here are some of the specifics for the Giveaway:
  • No purchase necessary.

Healthy Lung Month

Did you know that October was Healthy Lung Month?
I didn't but now that I have the some facts, I know that having and keeping your lungs healthy is not just because you were blessed with "healthy" genes.

Did you know that you breathe 11,000 liters of air each and every day?
I didn't - but WOW that is a lot of air!  Or that children and women breathe faster than men?  I did know that about children, but didn't know about women ... but you would have thought I would have, I mean I am a woman.  So if you are like me, you have already learned something from this post.

There are all kinds of things that you can do or steer away from, that will help keep your lungs healthy and thereby allowing YOU to stay around and influence others to do the same.
Just the very simple act of minimizing or eliminating your exposure to air pollution, avoiding toxic substances or stopping the use of tobacco products, or even better to never start smoking, will help keep your lungs healthy.  See I told you there are things that you can do to keep your lungs "clean".

I'm sure you have seen or heard those commercials/ad spots for Mesothelioma. For a while I thought every time we turned on the TV we heard at least one of those spots, but to be honest, I don't think I really paid attention.  But now that I have seen some of the facts, it is really scary!

There are so many ways, innocent ways, that you can be exposed to the Number One cause of Mesothelioma, that we need to be aware of.

There is a possible exposure to asbestos in commercial products, through commercial and industrial job sites and even our Military Vets were possibly exposed.  Prior to the 1970's asbestos was used in all kinds of construction materials - I remember seeing pipes in my house (originally built in the 20's and remodeled/added on to for years) wrapped in what was "assumed" to be an asbestos product.  I think that we all must take control and make sure that we are not exposed to asbestos or if we must, that we are protected and our families are protected from secondary exposure.

Because Mesothelioma can have a very long latency time period (as long as 35 - 40 years) the baby boomers and their families are those that are probably at greatest risk.  We didn't really know the extent of the potential damage/problems with asbestos during those years that so many were exposed.

I think that you need to know the symptoms and treatment so that we can be pro-active in seeking treatment.  But PLEASE don't become a hypochondriac when you see the symptoms.

Remember as you are reading them, that just because you have a particular symptom, it doesn't mean you have mesothelioma.  There are many symptoms of mesothelioma that are also common to other illnesses, which is one of the reasons that this is so hard to diagnose in the early stages.

Be informed, be vigilant, be proactive in your own health and that of your family and loved ones.  Remember that the lines of communication between you and your doctor are crucial.  He/She will help you get answers to questions that you need to ask. so that you can understand what is happening and how to go forward at each step of diagnosis and treatment along the way.

Need more information?
Check out the Mesothelioma blog where you can also request a free comprehensive Mesothelioma information packet.

Chicken Soup for the Soul - Personalized!

It can be really hard buying books for people as gifts.  Everyone now has an e-reader and has a complete library of e-books (I know I am one of those) but sometimes you want to really hold on a book, especially if it is a special book.

Here in lies the problem, unless you live in their book shelf, you never know which books they already have, which book they would think is special enough to hold a space on their bookshelf. And then when you do find the right book to give it to them, how do you make it really personal? Put in a book plate? Write an inscription? How do you make the whole thing totally them?

I know you already know about the "Chicken Soup for the Soul" books, they can be of such comfort when you see them on the shelf and even more as you sit quietly and read/reflect on them.  You know that there are so many wonderful thoughts within those pages that will make you (or whoever is reading it) feel like you are not alone.
These personalized “Chicken Soup for the Soul” books are one really great way to share something special.

Not only do you get to choose from five different story themes (from “Christmas Stories” to “Giving thanks”), you can personalize it in ways you just can’t with a conventional book. As the title suggests, these are stories meant to comfort and heal.

Your custom “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book will truly be a book for them because the book is printed with their name on the cover, as the recipient. And it’s truly from you because your name is printed on the cover as the giver. You can even include an inscription inside the book and on the back cover. Even add a photo to the back.

What a wonderful way to share you sorrow and sympathy when a friend has lost a loved one.  We all know that feeling when we want to say something, but just can't find the words.  They have picked stories about remembering those that have been lost, about finding comfort and healing that can help you find the words you are looking for or that will speak to their sorrow and help them heal.

There are other nice options to choose from, like the type of cover you’d like and the type of paper. It takes just about five minutes to make it a truly custom book. And chances are, it’s something they’ll love forever. And a 60-page book starts at just $24.95. You also have an option to increase the size of the book from 60 pages to 120  pages for just $10 more!  There are so many ways to personalize these books so that it will always have a special place on their bookshelf.

There’s a quick video here: Chicken Soup for the Soul that shows you how to fill in all the info using a simple online tool. The books are all done by Blurb, so you know the quality is going to be great.

Until 11/21/13
you can save 25% when you spend $50 or more

Looks like a win-win to me.

Although this is a sponsored post, it is based on my own opinion, that has not been influenced by any remuneration I may receive.

Amazon Prime

Are you a Prime member?

I have been an Amazon Prime member for a few months now and have found that it is well worth the cost.

What?  You don't exactly know what Amazon Prime is?  Well let me tell you -

Amazon Prime is the membership program that offers special benefits for just $79 per year.

Members can:
 * Instantly watch over 40,000 movies and TV episodes with titles for everyone
* Borrow books from the Kindle Owners' Lending Library
* Get unlimited FREE two-day shipping with no minimum order size (this has saved us many times with school books for my daughter!)

I hope you will check it out and try it out for 30 days free!  Yes I said FREE.  You can check it out with the above link to try for 30 days - then you too will be singing the praises of Amazon Prime!

We have "rented" Kindle books for free, gotten discounts on purchases, and received the great 2 day shipping FREE (Christmas is coming again) .

I'm now looking into the movies and TV shows that are available for those days when there is absolutely NOTHING on TV - even the on demand  options from my cable company.

What do you think?

Have you seen this video/ad?
Have you decided who you will vote for this Fall?
Here is a You Tube clip sent to me by a friend.

Watch "Test of Fire: Election 2012 (Official HD Version - Catholic)"

Watch "Test of Fire:  Election 2012 (Official HD Version - Evangelical, Protestant)"

So what did you think?
Did you notice the difference in the two videos?

I know I've tried to keep this blog "low-key" and not have a political stance on here.  As my parents have always said "to keep a friendly conversation steer away from Religion and Politics."

This one will throw that advice out the window.... but this morning I'm feeling a bit "daring".

We all have our opinions so lets not be down on anyone who has a different opinion than our own - remember that differing opinions is part of what makes this country the great country that it is.  We all get to express our opinions and not worry about being "prosecuted" .....

The new way to shop with Swagbucks Shop & Earn

I can NOT believe that September is less than a week away.   Please tell me where the Summer went.

But with the end of Summer, the Back to School season, with all the lists of required school supplies, is in full swing.  Some of you have children who have already started school and others are "counting down the days".  For me that is a bitter sweet count down, as I will have an "empty nest" with my bab off to college.

Once we are all "settled" into classes, it will soon be time to start shopping for everything from Halloween costumes (because you KNOW we have to have the latest and greatest costume - right mom?) and decor to the perfect holiday gifts and then some.

If you are a member of Swagbucks (and you are right?) You don't have to ask what's a Swaggernaut to do?   You already know!  Swagbucks got you covered.

Today, is the day that Swagbucks.com
Welcomes the return of
Shop & Earn.

Believe me, if you don't know already, this is just in the nick of time. Shop & Earn is the newest way to earn even more Swag Bucks by shopping online at some of the popular retailers like Kohl's, Nordstrom, Target (just to name a few) and more.   You'll now have the ability to earn Swag Bucks for each dollar spent or purchase made (earning amounts vary by store) through Shop & Earn.

Please note that Shop & Earn is only available in the U.S. for now, but the great folks at Swagbucks.com are working hard to make it available everywhere in the future.

Want to understand a little more about what Shop & Earn is all about?  Check out this great tutorial for Shop & Earn and then you can start earning more swagbucks with each of your purchases from now on.

Body by Vi

I have been debating about whether to just do an "edit" to the post I did on Jessica last week or if I should do a new post because I have tried a sample of Body by Vi.

I suppose if I didn't like it I would have just done an edit and say that it was "ok".  Since I'm posting a new post, I guess you could say I thought it was better than OK.

Let me tell you right now, when you open the package you get this wonderful smell - almost like a vanilla cake mix - that just draws you in.  It has that somewhat sweet homey smell that just makes you want to try it.  I'm sure you could just mix it up the way it is and be very happy, but I am always looking for "variety".  I know I get bored with "diet" products easily unless I can keep changing it up.  And once boredom sets in, the changes I was so set on putting into place goes right out the window.

That was one of the things that intrigued me about this product.  You had a "base" that was pleasant that you can change up all the time with things you probably have in your home already or should.  If you are going completely "cold turkey" on unhealthy options and using this as your jump start product you can add the variety I want (and I don't' think I'm that unusual) without having to rob a bank.  This just made me feel like I was taking the first step towards a new lifestyle, a new "me" that will be ditching the excess weight and making me want to hit the gym to tone up too.

My first shake was a blender shake with 1/2 cup of frozen berries, 8 oz of 2% milk (should have been skim or soy or almond, but that was what we had so we went with it), 2 scoops of mix and some ice (about 5 ice-maker cubes).  This filled an 18oz red solo cup!

If you remember I showed you a picture of some recipe options using the mix, where some used a blender and some were just mixing it up in a shaker cup.  I bet the Tupperware Quick Shake(r) Container would work well with these.

I have one of these so I will be trying it very soon.  I'm thinking a PB2 (powdered peanut butter with less calories and fat) and Cocoa ...... I mean chocolate and peanut butter just might be awesome!   Or how about Cocoa and a little mint extract - can you say "York Peppermint Patty" in a glass?  And then there was that Apple Pie in a Glass ......   These could be my go to when I'm running out the door in the morning to make a meeting.  No donuts and coffee from the table for me!

Now I will admit that when I first had my shake, I thought it was VERY tasty, but I honestly thought I was going to be starving in an hour.  WELL I was fooled completely.  I had my shake around 9AM (I was dilly dallying and didn't really want to get moving), when I was finished drinking it I really thought I was going to be in deep trouble by 10.  I thought I would be rummaging through the cabinets and refrigerator before 11.  I was SO WRONG!  I didn't even remotely feel hungry until after 1PM!  Yes this shake lasted me about 4 hours - better than some "regular" breakfast foods.  But I also noticed when I had lunch that I was full very quickly.  Now I am not sure what or why that happened - but I'll take it!  I will definitely checking out which package I am going to pick up for next month.

If you want to check this out, just let me know - and remember there is an option to get a challenge going or to get your monthly delivery for free - just ask and I will fill you in and get you set up.

Identity Theft

The latest thing that is really hurting people each and every day is Identity Theft. I know first hand how bad this is. Although it wasn't a personal theft of my identity I had to deal with it for a friend. Her son's identity was stolen the year he died. Now I can hear you say, what difference did that make - he was already dead. It effected EVERYTHING including his final tax return.

Once it happens to you, or someone you know, you want to be protected.  Check out SG Identiy.  They are offering a 50% discount for their services - Restoration AND Monitoring.  A small price for peace of mind or help in the mess of restoring your identity.

Jessica Georgia Woelk and the 90 Day Challenge

Do you know this lady?   Have you seen her around?
Is she not adorable?  I think she is the cutest.

I'm here to tell you that she could become one of the most important people you know.
How you ask?  Let me tell you.
  1. If you are even remotely interested in losing weight - this woman has a key.
  2. If you are interested in maintaining what you have lost and not letting it creep back on  - once again, look to this woman for the key.
Have you heard of Body by Vi?
Have you heard of the 90 Day Challenge?
Jessica has and has taken part in the

This lady is living proof that it works!
She has the enthusiasm for this program that will just make you want to do it.

She's not a sales person, but she will sell you the program.
BUT, and this is a BIG BUT, she is definitely not a "sell the product and move on to the next sucker" type of person.  We have all met these type of people - but that is definitely NOT Jessica.

She believes in this program because she has seen it work!
You see, she is a success story.

She is so enthusiastic and bubbly and fun.  Yes I said fun!

Just talking with her for a few minutes (OK so we were talking for much more than that) made me want to look into this program.

Even these make the program look and sound FABULOUS.  It looks like you could have a different shake every time so you would never get bored or tired of "same ole, same ole".  I sure you know what I mean.  It really does look like the possibilities are endless - or only as limited as your imagination.  I really think Jessica and I are going to have to have another chat.  What do you think?  Are you with me on this?  Shall we get Jessica to set up our very own 90 Day Challenge?

If you are getting psyched about this program, like me, and you think you might want to do our very own 90 Day Challenge AND want to know how you may be able to get your monthly shipment FREE (yes I said FREE) send me a message and we can talk about how that is possible.  Check out Jessica's Facebook Page too.  This could just the that last little push you need to accept the Challenge!  Come on, your health is worth the time it takes to check this out, right?

Can't wait to hear from you and to get you set up with Jessica and The 90 Day Challenge!

Tupperware - Online Party Time!!

Do you remember Tupperware?  I ask this because there are a lot of people who thought Tupperware was gone with all the hype about those "other" containers.  They are still around, going strong and have LOTS of new and refreshing items in their catalog of items.  Yes they still have quite a few of the old tried and true from kitchen items, to storage items to kids toys!  I saw one of the kids toys that I really loved when my kids were little.
Actually I still have it sitting in a plastic tub waiting until it is needed again.  It is still in perfect shape after 2 rough and ready kids playing with it.  I'm thinking I need to pick up another one to add to a baby gift for one of the girls in the office..... shhhh I didn't say that.

Personally, I love Tupperware.  I love it so much I just recently became a Tupperware Consultant.  If you are interested in becoming a Tupperware rep, just let me know - message me here or send me an email - I can set you up AND get you the Executive kit ($525 value) for $119.99 AND if you sign up before August 17th, you can pay in 3 installments!    If that is too much (even with the 3 installments) how about the Business Kit ($355 value) for $79.99 or the Summer Starter ($197.50 value) for $50.00  again with 3 monthly installments.

Wouldn't you like to enjoy more Tupperware AND make some money sharing the fun with your friends and family?  Think about becoming a rep yourself or holding your own party with me.  You know we can do Online Parties, if you have friends and family that would love to join in the fun but can't make it to your home.  Just something to think about.   Let me know if you want me to get you hooked up and ready to start - its super easy.

Look at some of the things that are are sale through August 10th!  If you want to join the "online" party I set up as my "first ever", you are more than welcome to do so, just click on one of the pictures and your in.  This party will be open until August 13th.  You could be enjoying all these great sales with just a click!  Click on over.  Oh and because it is online if you are in Canada you can order too!  Just need to click on the top right where it says "Shopping from Canada" and you are IN!  Don't find that very often do you?  See Tupperware loves you just like I do.

Have you Met Sarah from Simply Me?

I have found a new blog to follow.  I know, I know, I have so many that I like to follow, but this one is just too good to pass up. I actually found Sarah at Simply Me through a great group of bloggers that I've recently hooked up with.

Sarah has a blog that is written without any "airs"; as her title says it's "Simply Me".  I have to say that is one of the things that drew me to this blog.  No feelings of  "I'm Super Blogger listen to what I have to say" in any of her posts.  Just lots of information that is actually usable and lots of fun!

I love that her blog has "daily categories" at the top of the blog - makes it really easy to find (will have to find out how to do that).

One of those tabs is Handy Dandy Monday where I found some DIY things that I can't wait to try!  How about Make your own Natural Shampoo or Natural hair conditioner?  I know I spend a small fortune on hair products - I will be trying these after vacation.

I also love Whatever Wednesday - you just never know what will show up under this tab.

And then we have Food Friday.  What could be wrong with new recipes to try?  Not one thing in my book.

If you are looking for a new blog to read, that is down to earth, well written and fun, make sure you jump on over and visit with Sarah:  Simply Me

When you stop by, tell her Kat sent you ......  See you there!

Are you prepared for "lights out" this year?

Check this one out the lights out emergency pack from Zaycon Foods.

I'm thinking that this could be an AWESOME addition to everyone's home for those of us that are in "danger" zones for all kinds of events that could make a few days of  food/water/supplies a necessity.

I am going to be checking these out for sure (no more surprises like last year for me).  We have already had a few "flickers" of what's to come as the storms come rolling through.  I really don't think I can be without power for days like last year - but perhaps with this emergency pack - I could be 1) a little better prepared and 2) be a little better able to cope with those "lights out" days and nights.

If you do like these, do me a favor and tell them that Kat Meller told you about them.

Thanks

Alexa Ranking

I am really sad to say that my Alexa Rating/Ranking has taken a dive, and that is making me really sad.

I had been doing really well and thought I would be on my way to a "beautiful" number that would make my Google Ranking better (that also took a hit but I'm not going to even think about that one since they keep changing their "equation").

I don't know if my ranking has fallen because, like me, many of my readers are using tablets now to follow blogs (and can't download the toolbar) or if I am just becoming "one of many" and don't come to mind when searching for blogs to read.

Maybe this is a little brash but, as I am going to try and get my Alexa Ranking moving back down in the right direction, I am going to ask that anyone who stops by, would you be so kind as to check out some of my posts and leave me a review on Alexa?

You can hop on over to Alexa and write your review here.  I really would appreciate it.  If I can help out with your ranking, just let me know.  I'll go back to my laptop and leave one so that your numbers will go "down" too.

Thank you for taking the time to do a review - I really appreciate it!

Cuisinart Ice Cream Maker

If you were following on my facebook page the other day,  you saw that Jenn was saying it was just SOOOO Hot that she wanted some "home-made" ice cream.

In other words ...... Mom could you make ice cream please please pretty please - oh and could it be Mint Chocolate Chip?  Now when you make your own at home it doesn't come in those "containers" that always seem to either  crush/leak/rip/ or leave enough air inside to make ice crystals on the top.  When I make my own, I put it in a nice Tupperware container (I use a 9 cup container) and put a piece of plastic wrap on top before sealing.  Works great every time.

As you can see, she didn't wait for it to go from "soft serve" to "ripened" ....... but it still tasted really good - yes I had a little taste too.  Next time I have to put a little green food coloring in to tint it for the mint.

I'm not sure which will be the next kind we make - but I'm sure we will make more before the weekend is over - but I have a great book for ice cream and frozen yogurt ideas/recipes.

If you don't have your own ice cream maker, you really should check out Prize Confidential
for a chance to win an awesome Cuisinart Pure Indulgence Ice Cream Maker.  Wouldn't you like to see this at your door?  Then you could be making ice cream (or frozen yogurt) anytime you wanted - any flavor you wanted

Free Diabetic eCookBook

I'm not a diabetic nor is anyone in my family, but I do know that there are LOTS of people who are diabetic or pre-diabetic that need to watch what they eat and keep everything "in check".

If you fall into any of these "categories", don't miss out on FREE offers!
Join dLife and get a FREE eCookbook, as well as find out about other diabetes offers you qualify for.

I know that whoever it is that you know that suffers from this disease, will thank you for your concerns and the help that can be found at dLife.
